Our Historic Building

When looking for a long-term home for Wyoming Corporate Office, we fell in love with a historic brick building on Gould Street, right in the middle of downtown Sheridan.
The 1916 building originally housed the Mills Company, a printing and stationery store that completed such important jobs as printing the Wyoming state statutes and county assessor logs, and serving as the local hub for books and office supplies.
While the Mills Company is no longer around, we aim to continue its entrepreneurial legacy by helping a new generation of Wyoming residents start successful businesses.
The Mills Company Legacy
This 1921 Sheridan Post article opens, “If there is anything you require in the book or stationery line, go to Mills.” It’s clear that the Mills Company was well known for having the best selection of popular books and stationery in the region.
While you won’t read about Mills in many history books, its lasting impact is clear. The company employed as many as 60 local residents and provided our town with much needed revenue and industry.
When we bought the Mills Company building in 1991, it had been vacant for many years. After putting in a lot of time, effort, and investment, we restored the building to its former glory, while adding the necessities of a modern business.

Where History Meets Modern Day

In restoring the Mills Company building, we retained as many of the original features as possible. We restored the original ironwork, Douglas fir floors, diamond doors, and polished brass features.
The result is a business center unlike any other you’ll find in the state of Wyoming.
Aside from being a beautiful place to work, our building reminds us that a great small business can leave a legacy lasting generations.
Every day, we help Wyoming residents start local businesses that will serve their community, just like the Mills Company did for Sheridan more than 100 years ago.
